How can this be taught?
Your child will learn to understand instructions that include an object and 2 of the elements here, including attribute, location and number.
In the first stage, prepare 2 sets of items (a set of the target objects and a set of distractors), e.g. target items = ‘Get 2 yellow balls’; distractors = 5 red balls. Prepare 5 yellow balls and 5 red balls on the table. Then, ask child ‘Get 2 yellow balls’. Child should get 2 yellow balls.
Keep the instructions simple in order to reduce child’s confusion. Within stimulus prompt (increase the volume of the attribute/location/number) can also be used to help your child.
In the second stage, similar procedure is conducted except having 3 or more sets of items in the field, or performing in a natural setting.
