What is the goal of this program?

Learning to describe events that include elements of ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘when’, ‘where’

Why is this program important?

Helps with:

  • Enhance conversational skills
  • Lengthen student’s sentence usage
  • Increase awareness of the surroundings

How can this be taught?

In the first part, show event cards to your child, and ask ‘What’s happening?’. Your child has to give answers with 3 elements that include ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘where’. E.g ‘The girl is eating apple in the park.’  Next, use videos / in vivo instructions to ask your child the same questions. The same answers from the above are expected from your child.

Similar procedure is carried out in the second part, with ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘where’, and ‘when’ included as the 4 target elements in your child’s answer.

In both parts, visual prompts (e.g. word / pictorial prompt) and verbal prompts may be used at the beginning, and are expected to be gradually removed.

Suggested toys and materials

Event cards with elements of ‘who’, ‘what’, ‘where’, ‘when’, e.g.:

  • The mother is making pancakes in the kitchen in the morning.
  • The dog is sleeping on the sofa at night.
  • The children are building sandcastle at the beach in summer.

3D items for required objects (e.g. cooking set, doll house etc.)
