  • Description
  • Curriculum

What is the goal of this program?

Able to use hands to reach, grab and place large objects into certain area or container

Why is this program important?

Helps with:

  • Enhancing hands movement
  • Improving hand strength
  • Developing hand-eye coordination

How can this be taught?

To encourage the child to reach and grab, you can use toys he likes and put them in various locations, for example on the table, chair, floor, etc. After your child reaches the target item, you can use physical prompt to help your child to use palmar grasp to grab.

After your child is able to use palmar grasp to get things, you can move on to the next stage, which refers to put things into an open container. You can provide physical prompt for your child to grab, move hands towards container and release the item, and gradually let your child to do it independently.
